About MADE by DWC
MADE by DWC is a social enterprise created by the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) to break the cycles of chronic homelessness and unemployment. By empowering women to discover talents and develop skills through vocational opportunities, MADE by DWC generates economic and social capital to support programs at DWC and create opportunities for women to overcome barriers to employment.
MADE by DWC provides transitional employment for homeless and low-income women through support from the LA:RISE program, a partnership between the City and County of Los Angeles’ Workforce Development System, non-profit social enterprises, and for-profit employers. Women employed in our social enterprise create and sell products for handMADE, MADE by DWC’s signature line of unique gift items created in collaboration between DWC program participants and community artists.
